The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts,
Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read.
This week's question: Before blogging (dark times people!) how would
you find out about new books or did you?
Before blogging I mainly discovered new books by browsing the library shelves and trying whatever looked interesting. Once I found an author I liked I'd hunt down their backlist and read those as well. For example, I found Good Omens in the library, then went on to read all of Neil Gaiman's work published at that time as well as Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I didn't read the variety of authors and genres I do now, but that sense of serendipity in finding a great book was fun.

I did the same thing with the library. I think this is how I started judging books by their covers... I think you kind of have to with so many options! New follower on Twitter & Bloglovin :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my F&F!
I used to get lost forever in libraries. Happy FF! New bloglovin follower

after a lot of thinking back, there were so many ways I found books that wasnt in our post =) Recently saw Neil Gaiman two-three months ago, he actually came to our tiny little CT indie bookstore. Didnt get to meet him or get him alone, but he was awesome =)

Oh, I forgot to say I'm an existing Bloglovin' follower.
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting! I'm glad to hear he was awesome, he seems really great on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm ecstatic to have more widespread exposure to books but the TBR is never-ending.
ReplyDeleteThat was my favorite way to spend an afternoon. Still is, sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI do too a lot of the time. Out of the tons of books out there, it's how certain ones stand out.
ReplyDeleteI only have his Anansi Boys title, but I really liked it! lso thought it was awesome he fought for the lead characters to remain PoC. People who attempted to option it, refused to keep the title roles Black, which is silly XD Anansi isnt exactly a pagan god in anywhere but Africa and the Caribbean XD
ReplyDeleteIm Libertad's other half btw XD
ReplyDeleteHaha got it :). I agree, it makes absolutely no sense for the characters to be anything other than Black. Anansi Boys is one of my favorite of his books. I liked it a lot more than American Gods, which I found kind of tedious.
