Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee's View & Alison Can Read
This week's question: Craziest thing you'd be willing to do for an ARC you are dying to read (aka what would you doooo-ooo for that ARC you want? *think of the Klondike bar music*
To be honest I'm kind of ambivalent about ARCs because I'm a mood reader. It's great when I'm allowed access to something I'm interested in on Netgalley, but I try to keep my requests selective because if they pile up the reading & reviewing becomes more of a stressor than a pleasure. Also if I don't get access to an ARC, oh well, it'll be released eventually. That being said, there are always new releases I'm dying to read and right now these two top the list:
I was lucky enough to get chapter samplers for these two books the last day of NYCC, it's only made me more anxious to read the rest. Uprooted seems to only have a selective few physical ARCs, I'm hoping it'll go up on Edelweiss at some point. It comes out June 30. JUNE! BEA 2015 will have come and gone by then. Shadow Scale may only have a very limited ARC release due to the popularity of Seraphina (an excellent book).
Nevertheless, for these ARCs I'd be willing to do any social media promotion Random House asked, and as for going extreme lengths, I wouldn't say no to holding a advertisement in Times Square for a few hours, perhaps in costume. I'd fit right in with all the Elmos, Spidermen, Naked Cowboys, etc. wandering around there.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts,
Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read.
This week's question: Before blogging (dark times people!) how would
you find out about new books or did you?
Before blogging I mainly discovered new books by browsing the library shelves and trying whatever looked interesting. Once I found an author I liked I'd hunt down their backlist and read those as well. For example, I found Good Omens in the library, then went on to read all of Neil Gaiman's work published at that time as well as Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I didn't read the variety of authors and genres I do now, but that sense of serendipity in finding a great book was fun.

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read
This week's question: tell us about a book character you'd trade places with.
I know this won't win points for originality but I'd trade places with Hermione from Harry Potter. Let me specify, I'd trade places with adult Hermione who's settled in her life and career in Wizard Law post- Battle of Hogwarts. Nothing would get me to go back to high school again, I don't care how magical it is, plus there's the whole Death Eater issue young Hermione deals with. Living in the Rowling's Wizarding world as an adult seems like a pretty good option.
Here, have this picture of Emma Watson in a suit, or as you can think of it: business Hermione.

This week's question is:
What books are you embarrassed to admit you LOVED?
These days I'm not really embarrassed to admit to loving the books I love. When I was younger I was extremely prone to embarrassment, whether it was my college roommate calling me a nerd for liking The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or my sister's judgment of my love of manga. Now I'm more comfortable with myself, at least enough so when I face judgement for not liking 50 Shades of Grey (my friends) or reading anything in public that's not a classic, by Franzen, or by David Foster Wallace (allegedly random strangers on the train, according to any article I've ever read) it doesn't bother me. I own up to what I'm reading, and if other people think I should be embarrassed:

Feature and Follow Friday is a Blog Hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, where we get to know our fellow bloggers and maybe find some new blogs to follow.
This week's question:
What are some of your favorite magazines?
I love the The New Yorker and will sometimes read the digital edition instead of a novel on my commute. I also enjoy the London Review of Books once in a while and like flipping through fashion magazines and Entertainment Weekly whenever I have an opportunity.

Feature & Follow Friday is a social blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
Q: What book (or TV show or movie) have you not read that seemingly everyone else has?
Book: Guys, I have a confession to make, I have not read:
Maybe I'll get to it some time before the film release.
TV Show:
I like to be up on my pop culture, but I never got into this show while it aired and now I'm intimated by the all the hours I'd spend catching up.
Movie:
I saw the first two in theaters but never got there for this one. At this point all the plot details have been spoiled by cultural osmosis so I may never bother to see it. Would it be worth it?
If you'd like, let me know in the comments what TV shows you're watching right now. I could use some recs, and I also love talking about shows on twitter if anyone's interested.

It's time for Feature and Follow Friday, hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read
It's a bit late as I haven't been home, but here's my "bookshelf tour":
These are the books in my nightstand right now.
Due to the collapse of my bookshelves due to leaning on them while dusting, most of my library is piled up under my desk currently. I'm holding off on buying new shelves for when I move. Here are the books in front, the piles are three deep. They started out organized by subject and author but I've dug through so many times they're currently stacked more or less by size. I can't wait to get new shelves:

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop created to help get to know fellow book bloggers. It's hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.
Q: If you could only have ONE – one book – for the rest of your life. What would it be?
Only one? That would be torture. I'll say Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. It has a little bit of everything considered relevant to literature and world history and it's around 1,500 pages so it would keep me busy for a long time. Plus it reminds me of the Harriet the Spy sequel I read when I was a kid, The Long Secret, which features it.
If that's considered cheating, then Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Also very long, very entertaining, and contains both wizards and footnotes.
