The Bout of Books read-a-thon is
organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It
is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs
through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is
low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual
number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand
prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books
11 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From
the Bout of Books team
Reading Pile:
The Jewel (The Lone City #1) by Amy Ewing
Lockwood & Co: The Whispering Skull by Jonathan Stroud
Mary: The Summoning (Bloody Mary #1) by Hillary Monahan
The Supernatural Enhancements by Edgar Cantero
Hopefully I'll finish at least two of these books and participate in a couple of challenges as well.
To all Bout of Books participants, happy reading!
Update 8/23/14
- # of books completed: 2
- # of pages read: 1,034
- Books read: The Whispering Skull (Lockwood & Co. #2) by Jonathan Stroud, The Jewel by Amy Ewing

A - Across a Star Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund
I - In the Shadows by Kiersten White & Jim Di Bartolo
M - Mistwalker by Saundra Mitchell
E - Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History Making Race Around the World by Matthew Goodman

So I had lots of fun participating in this challenge previously and will take any encouragement to expand my reading time. My goals are pretty casual: I want to read at least two books from my popular YA TBR, specifically this list:
Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa
Cress by Marissa Meyer
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
The Falconer by Elizabeth May
Pointe by Brandy Colbert
*Update 5/17/14 -Day 5*
# of Finished Books: 2
-Siege & Storm: 432 pages
-The Immortal Rules: 485 pages
65% of Scarlet: 260 pages
Pretty good progress. I've achieved my goal, and hopefully fit good chunk of reading time in tomorrow. BoB has been really good motivation to read in lieu of other things.

Bout of Books Day 4 Update
These past couple of days have been hectic so I haven't really been getting an appreciable amount of reading done. But I thought this challenge was awesome so here it is:
Bookish Mad Libs Challenge:
Hosted by The Space Between
A. The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway
B. The Trunchbull - Matilda by Roald Dahl
C. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
D. One Thousand and One Nights: A Retelling by Hanan Al-Shaykh
E. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
F. Captain Wentworth - Persuasion by Jane Austen
G. Enemy Pie by Derek Munson
It is very Great and Terrible here!
(He/She) is demanding One Thousand and One Fangirl(s) to set me free!
I have just discovered that Captain Wentworth was captured too!
On second thought, please send Enemy Pies, and don't worry if you don't hear from us for awhile!
Much Love,
Jaime

Part of the Pairathon Challenge hosted by Book Pairing
Challenge #2 Hosted by Music Plus Books: Re-Title It Challenge
I would re-title it Won't Somebody Please Call the Coast Guard.
The original title is more poetic.
Happy Readathon!

I'm so excited to be joining in a Read-a-thon! This one is low pressure, which is great and I'm hoping it'll motivate me to knock off some of my TBR. Here's a pile of books I'll be choosing from:
Also two e-books I'm hoping to finish:
Aren't those covers just gorgeous? I hope the interior matches.
GOALS: I normally read around 1 1/2 to 2 books a week depending on what I'm reading, so I'm going to try to double that to 4. Reading on my commute and reading in lieu of any TV should accomplish this :)
I'll also try to participate in at least two challenges, fingers crossed.
I've already started The Bone Season and Ashes on the Waves, so I feel my goal is achievable. Hopefully I'll even surpass it.
