Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's topic: Top Ten Underrated Books (In YA fantasy)

1. Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey - This is an older book but it's a great story with diverse characters
2. The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey - I wish it had been more popular so there could've been a dozen books in this series. Forever bitter about its cancelation. Forever.
3. The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeman - This is a more recent release that seems to have flown under the radar a bit. Excellent creepy fairytale.
4. The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski -Author of The Winner's Curse, the writing in this book is wonderful.
5. Half World by Hiromi Goro - adventure where a girl travels to the afterlife to rescue her mother. Great heroine.
6. Long Lankin by Lindsey Barraclough - The setting of this story is really memorable, the characters are nuanced, and the scares are legit.
7. Mistwood by Leah Cypress - I love this fantasy, it's subtly romantic.
8. Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon - Fantasy from a different cultural perspective. Very good.

9. The Archived by Victoria Schwab - The heroine of this book is one of my favorites and I felt the depiction of grief was true to life.
10. The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell - has anyone else read this? It hits all my favorite fantasy tropes. Whatever happened to the sequel?

I've heard good things about the books by Victoria Schwab. I keep thinking that I should check out the books!

Oh snap, I've only read the Archived on this entire list! But I loved it! I've been meaning to read The Cadet of Tildor and The Glass Casket too (and I own them both). Maybe I should bump them up the TBR and give thiese books some love!

There's always so many books coming out some fall by the wayside :). But those two are pretty good.

Great! It's different but I liked the writing and the references to T.S. Elliot's The Wasteland.

The Monstrumologist is so good! Especially if you like horror/Victorian-style writing. I'm always happy to rec Victoria Schwab's books.

Yay! They're very well written.

Both The Shadow Society and The Archived are on my TBR! I'm going to check out Mistwood, the cover alone entices me to check this out... LOVE It!

I've been meaning to read Rutkoski's The Shadow Society months and months ago, during those times when I was desperately waiting for the Winner's Curse to come out. I don't know when I am going to pick it up now that I am already swamped with so many ARCs.

And yay, I'm going to add Half World to my TBR. Love the premise!

Great. Mistwood's cover is gorgeous, the physical book even more so. So shiny!

Yeah, now's really the busy season when it comes to new releases :). Hooray for Half World! There's a sequel too.

I totally agree that more people should read The Archived and The Glass Casket. Both great stories with a darker side that's really well explored. And a lot of the rest of your picks are on my TBR (especially Mistwood and The Shadow Society) so I'll have to bump them up!
