2. The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey - I wish it had been more popular so there could've been a dozen books in this series. Forever bitter about its cancelation. Forever.
3. The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeman - This is a more recent release that seems to have flown under the radar a bit. Excellent creepy fairytale.
4. The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski -Author of The Winner's Curse, the writing in this book is wonderful.

6. Long Lankin by Lindsey Barraclough - The setting of this story is really memorable, the characters are nuanced, and the scares are legit.
7. Mistwood by Leah Cypress - I love this fantasy, it's subtly romantic.
8. Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon - Fantasy from a different cultural perspective. Very good.

Oh snap, I've only read the Archived on this entire list! But I loved it! I've been meaning to read The Cadet of Tildor and The Glass Casket too (and I own them both). Maybe I should bump them up the TBR and give thiese books some love!

I've been meaning to read Rutkoski's The Shadow Society months and months ago, during those times when I was desperately waiting for the Winner's Curse to come out. I don't know when I am going to pick it up now that I am already swamped with so many ARCs.
And yay, I'm going to add Half World to my TBR. Love the premise! -

I totally agree that more people should read The Archived and The Glass Casket. Both great stories with a darker side that's really well explored. And a lot of the rest of your picks are on my TBR (especially Mistwood and The Shadow Society) so I'll have to bump them up!
