After a personally turbulent Dec-January I found I'd fallen off the book blogging wagon during the dark winter months. Now that spring is here it's time to dust off the place and get writing again.

I chose today in particular to restart this blog in part in order to participate in the #We Need Diverse Books campaign, May 1 until May 3.

This campaign is a response to Bookcon failing to invite any authors of color to panels at this event. The schedule is a sea of white people and a cat. For more detailed information on this issue, here's a succinct write-up of the situation.

BEA is something I was looking forwarded to, and it's both a source of anger and disappointment that this is how it was organized. However, the main issue is not just this one event, but how the book industry as a whole needs to publish and promote more books by diverse authors. For my own part, I'm making an effort to seek out books by non-white authors. A recommendations list is coming soon.
